About the role

Backend-focused software engineer at Databricks working on infrastructure and products at scale across domains such as OS/container systems, serverless infrastructure, partner integration, and machine learning infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Build Databricks serverless platform that powers big data, machine learning and Gen AI workloads. Automatically improve performance and efficiency of workloads while ensuring scale across millions of machines in a multi-cloud environment.
  • Build cutting-edge OS, container and networking technologies powering Databricks infrastructure, from internal infrastructure to serverless platform; improve security, efficiency and reliability across the fleet.
  • Build and grow a partner ecosystem for Databricks SQL; maintain and nurture partnerships and provide toolkits for integrations.
  • Build multi-language multi-user collaborative REPL experience for notebooks with high reliability and responsiveness for data science and AI/ML authoring and experimentation.
  • Build tools, frameworks and platforms to enable Databricks engineers to build, deploy and operate services with “batteries included”; improve scale, observability and safety across clouds and developer experience.

Qualifications

  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, Golang, C++, or similar language
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures
  • Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data
