About the role

Lead and grow the Assist & Chat teams within Superhuman Go to build and scale a proactive AI assistant, matching user activity with relevant agents across multiple surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 8+ engineers, providing mentorship and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Own the technical direction for proactive agent surfacing, from understanding user context to matching them with the right agent.
  • Develop models that interpret user activity across applications and match it with relevant agents.
  • Build evaluation frameworks to measure model quality and user impact, iterating rapidly.
  • Ship user-facing products across Chrome extension, native desktop app, and integrations with Superhuman Mail and Coda Docs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, ML research, and platform teams.
  • Transition from reactive to proactive assistance based on deep understanding of user activity.
  • Balance technical ambition with pragmatic execution to deliver value and build towards the proactive assistant vision.

Qualifications

  • Has 3+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 5+ engineers.
  • Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, and evaluating ML models.
  • Experience shipping user-facing products at scale with a focus on UX quality.
  • Strong technical breadth across browser/extension development, ML/AI infrastructure, and full-stack product engineering.
  • Experience building systems across diverse surfaces (browser extensions, native apps, web applications).
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, define strategy, and ship in early-stage product areas.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills across engineering, product, design, and leadership.
  • Energized by building proactive AI experiences that anticipate user needs.
