About the role

Databricks is seeking a Systems PhD (Database/Systems) Software Engineer to work on multi-cloud data systems across the data lifecycle, including query compilation, distributed execution, storage, security, and resource management. The role is part of the Database Engine team and involves designing and implementing advanced database and storage system components.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement in areas such as: query compilation & optimization, distributed query execution and scheduling, vectorized engine execution, data security, resource management, transaction coordination, efficient storage structures (encoding, indexes), automatic physical data optimization.

Qualifications

  • PhD in databases or systems
  • Passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, and/or performance optimization
  • Motivated by delivering customer value and impact
