About the role

Software Engineer role on the Agent Harness team at SpaceXAI, building core agent behavior and capabilities to power agent experiences across Cursor products, including agent orchestration, tools, guardrails, and model behavior tuning. Defines the default Cursor agent experience (Auto) with trusted model selection under real-world constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the agent harness (agent loop, tools, prompts, execution environment, capabilities) used across Cursor products to enable multi-agent coordination.
  • Improve the default Cursor agent experience (the “Auto” model setting) by making smart model choices based on user needs, model capabilities, and cost appetite.
  • Shape the default Cursor agent’s personality.
  • Launch new models on Cursor end-to-end — partner with foundational model providers and the research team on integration, evaluation, and rollout.

Qualifications

  • Built complex agentic products or infrastructure.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production systems.
  • Tastes and strong opinions on model and agent behaviors; stays up-to-date on emerging research and industry trends.
  • Ability to weigh data, user experience, and product taste in gray-area decisions.
