About the role

Senior backend-focused role at Databricks working on the Data Intelligence Platform for the Public Sector, designing and scaling distributed systems to operate in sovereign and air-gapped cloud environments with strict security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable systems and design highly available backend services using Scala, Java, Go, C++/C or similar.
  • Design and implement highly scalable backend services in Java, Scala, or Go that power the Data Intelligence Platform across sovereign and air-gapped clouds.
  • Solve complex architectural trade-offs around concurrency, storage, and networking to ensure platform resilience in high-consequence public sector environments.
  • Drive zero-waste compute initiatives, optimizing engine and services for resource-constrained or specialized regions (e.g., GovCloud).
  • Partner with Production Engineering to ensure backend services meet highest security standards and compliance guardrails while maintaining high availability.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Nice to have: current polygraph (Counterintelligence or Full Scope).
