About the role

Senior backend engineer responsible for architectural leadership and impactful delivery of core financial systems, platform direction, and cross-functional collaboration at Imprint.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architecture and implementation of critical financial systems: transaction authorization, ledger accounting, credit decisioning, rewards engines, and payment processing
  • Shape net-new products from ideation through delivery and define technical approaches for systems that don’t exist yet
  • Define foundational platform direction: technical vision for shared services, API infrastructure, and developer tooling
  • Leverage AI across the stack from prototyping to production code
  • Drive alignment across product, design, infrastructure, compliance, solutions engineering, and brand partners
  • Raise the technical and cultural bar: mentor engineers, foster psychological safety, drive technical rigor in design, reviews, and shipping

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience building production backend systems
  • Architected and shipped systems handling real money/real users/real-time decisions
  • Ability to operate across staff archetypes (tech lead, architect, solver)
  • Model culture with psychological safety, intellectual honesty, and high standards for craft
  • Clear communication from implementation details to leadership strategy
  • Proficiency in Go (or similar language) with willingness to ramp
  • Experience ensuring data consistency and transactional integrity across distributed systems
  • Strong relational database skills: schema design, migrations, query performance
  • Ability to drive technical alignment across product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers of all levels
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate development or enthusiasm to adopt them
  • Startup experience a plus
