About the role

Design Engineer role to shape and build interactive experiences across Parallel’s website, product, and special projects, combining prototyping, core website contributions, and creating visual/storytelling components.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype possible directions and contribute to core website
  • Build reusable components and patterns to accelerate future projects
  • Work from first rough idea through production with designers, marketers, and engineers
  • Refine everyday interactions, motion, and visual storytelling elements such as visual essays, data visualizations, and minisites
  • Ensure responsive, accessible, and performant experiences in the browser
  • Collaborate to ship interactive experiences across website, product, and special projects

Qualifications

  • Design engineer or frontend engineer with strong design instincts
  • Experience shipping working websites and ability to articulate decisions
  • Strong typography, layout, and interaction timing/feel
  • Proficiency with modern frontend and animation libraries; know when to build something custom
  • Comfort prototyping and carrying work through to production in a responsive, accessible manner
