About the role

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Instrumentl, a mission-driven nonprofit fundraising SaaS, focused on building engaging frontends and resilient backends for a wide range of nonprofit customers. Distributed US-based team with Pacific Time overlap; remote-first with optional Oakland office.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, and improve products for Instrumentl’s customers from small nonprofits to large organizations.
  • Create engaging, responsive interfaces and APIs to drive adoption and retention.
  • Contribute high-quality, thoroughly tested code for UI and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with product, design, content, sales, and support to improve internal tools and processes.
  • Own problems end-to-end, managing complexity and engaging stakeholders for short- and long-term solutions.
  • Be a strategic partner considering business impact, reliability, and user experience to the pixel-perfection of customer interactions.
  • Mentor newer team members and uphold high standards of product quality.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience (startup experience a plus).
  • Generalist who can work across frontend, backend, infrastructure, data pipelines, or billing pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, HTML, and CSS; open to new tools.
