About the role

Lead the development of distributed cooperative robotics for a mobile robotics platform, partnering with electrical and software teams to rapidly design, prototype, test, and scale electromechanical systems for a new robotics product in the supply chain industry.

Responsibilities

  • Create novel electro-mechanical mechanisms and systems for a mobile robotics platform and validate them using rapid prototyping fabrication methods
  • Build, debug and support prototype robots
  • Develop designs for volume production methods, knowledge of casting, injection molding, stamping, and other volume production processes
  • Perform failure modes analysis
  • Create work instructions for fabricating robotic systems
  • Develop concepts for systems to meet design requirements
  • Support robot deployments at customer sites as required
  • Redesign robotic systems for volume manufacturing, focusing on reliability and cost optimization

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics with 3+ years of industry experience
  • Experience designing and debugging electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in designing parts and assemblies using 3D modeling software (Solidworks and Onshape preferred)
  • FEA experience (ANSYS preferred) an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Hands on experience with 3D printing, sheet metal design, casting, injection molding, prototype manufacturing and assembly
