About the role

UX consultant role at CompassX focused on leading discovery, designing across the stack, and translating design into buildable solutions for enterprise clients. Emphasizes problem-solving, research, prototyping, and AI-assisted design within a consultancy context.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Discovery: Plan and facilitate user research - interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing - to surface real problems before jumping to solutions.
  • Design Across the Stack: Move between journey maps, service blueprints, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes; own end-to-end design arc.
  • Build and Validate: Create interactive prototypes, contribute to design systems, or use tools like Figma, Tableau, or low-code platforms to gather user feedback.
  • Translate for Technical Teams: Collaborate with developers, architects, and data engineers to ensure feasible and aligned implementation.
  • Communicate Design Decisions: Articulate design thinking to non-design stakeholders and justify choices and trade-offs.
  • Bring AI Into the Work: Leverage AI tools to accelerate synthesis, prototype generation, and design iteration, and advise on AI impacts on product/service design.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of UX experience across research, interaction design, and/or design build (at least two of the three, ideally all).
  • Consulting or client-facing experience in an agency, consultancy, or embedded client delivery context.
  • Experience designing for internal enterprise tools, workflows, or platforms (enterprise context).
  • Prototyping & Build Fluency: Proficiency in Figma; familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or low-code tools is a plus.
  • Research Rigor: Ability to conduct proper user interviews, synthesize findings, and translate qualitative data into design direction.
  • AI-Forward Mindset: Active use of AI tools to accelerate design work and insights into AI’s impact on design.
  • Local Presence: Based in LA or Orange County with ability to be on-site at client locations in SoCal.
