About the role

Engineering Leader for Databricks' Data Visualization team in Bellevue, responsible for end-to-end life cycle of visual insights, AI/BI dashboarding, and agentic authoring workflows, reporting to Senior Manager of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing engineering team in Bellevue focused on revolutionizing how users visualize data with AI/BI Dashboards.
  • Oversee sustained recruitment of frontend and visualization talent and foster mentorship and professional growth.
  • Build processes to implement the AI/BI product vision, focusing on "BI Takeout" initiatives to replace legacy tools with Databricks-native experiences.
  • Ensure the visualization platform is feature-rich, high-performing, reliable, and easy to operate.
  • Manage technical debt (e.g., framework migrations, performance optimizations) while balancing an ambitious roadmap including agentic authoring and semantic model integration.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in web frontend development, preferably React-based applications and modern state management (e.g., MobX).
  • 2+ years leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced product environment.
  • Deep interest in data visualization, charting libraries (e.g., D3.js, Vega-Lite), or UX for complex data tools.
  • Proven ability to drive technical initiatives that improve team productivity (e.g., optimize CI/CD runtimes, streamline visualization frameworks).
  • Strong track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent, with ability to mentor engineers at various levels.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Management, Design, and AI Research teams to deliver agentic product experiences.
  • Adaptability in a rapidly evolving tech environment with ability to pivot priorities based on customer feedback and AI capabilities.
