- Steward: maintain and productionize the codebase, lead PR reviews, gate external contributions.
- Champion Best Practices: establish software engineering best practices in ML, mentor researchers.
- Elevate Code Maturity & Quality: transition core research codebase to scalable, maintainable standards; manage technical debt and ensure reproducibility.
- Maintain Documentation: create and maintain documentation for research infrastructure and systems.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: ensure precise interactions between research code and other code at Fundamental.
- Guard the research–engineering contract: build and own CI, contract tests, and verification to catch changes that break interfaces; Bugs surface in PRs, not in production.

- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to discuss complex technical ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and deep familiarity with PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience with the modern ML research tech stack and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Weights & Biases, Datadog, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions).
- Demonstrated track record of developing and utilizing solutions for robustness and quality assurance within software and/or ML systems.
- Mission-driven mindset, motivated by real-world impact and excellence in software development.
