About the role

Forward Deployed Data Scientist to facilitate adoption of NEXUS, collaborate with customers on technical challenges, manage multi-stakeholder relationships, and translate field insights into the product roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Individually deploy into production use cases with substantial business impact, moving from experiments to ROI.
  • Perform head-to-head benchmarking against client baselines (XGBoost, LightGBM); execute data engineering, feature engineering, and validation tasks.
  • Collaborate with research and product teams to translate operational pain points and data anomalies into inputs for Fundamental's roadmap.
  • Contribute to technical strategy to identify business problems, prevent data leakage, and manage last-mile integration (VPC, on-prem, air-gapped).
  • Collaborate with Sales and Solution Architect teams to align stakeholders and explain predictions to business users.

Qualifications

  • PhD or master's in CS / Math / Stats or equivalent deep statistical literacy
  • 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration, and writing performant APIs (FastAPI/Flask)
  • End-to-end pipeline mastery: framing, pre-processing, ML algorithm, validation strategies
  • Deep understanding of data handling (PySpark, Pandas) and memory optimization
  • Demonstrated experience optimizing models for a specific business problem
  • Strong communication skills translating architectural nuances into clear business value
