About the role

Director of Accounting to build and lead the Accounting department, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, implement financial operating procedures, and scale processes in a fast-growing crypto company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process and prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow
  • Drive opportunities for process improvements and automation, optimize accounting systems and tools, and lead the implementation of accounting best practices
  • Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with US GAAP, staying up to date with FASB and SEC guidance, especially related to any digital asset policies
  • Develop, implement and enforce financial controls and policies
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable
  • Own digital asset reporting and reconciliations
  • Provide support to the management team in making informed financial decisions
  • Work with tax partners to prepare and file tax documents and returns
  • Build and mentor the Accounting team

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience with prior experience at top tier public accounting firm
  • 2+ years of recent experience at a crypto company or crypto native
  • Experience or familiarity with digital asset accounting is highly preferred
  • Prior experience leading a financial audit in partnership with external auditors
  • CPA license holder
  • Experience with multi-entity operations
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, financial planning tools and Microsoft Excel
  • Great communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized and tactical
  • Ability to think strategically about department building and rolling out new processes
  • Excited to roll up your sleeves and comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment, executing on multiple projects at any given time
