About the role

Senior Software Engineer with backend focus to build infrastructure for the Databricks platform at scale. Works on cost attribution, automated resource management, and efficiency tooling to optimize cloud spending across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End System Design: Lead projects from concept to deployment. Design and build scalable systems that handle high-volume data streams to provide accurate cost attribution and resource management.
  • Scaling & Optimization: Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in cloud architecture; engineer solutions to mitigate resource waste and improve attribution accuracy.
  • Component Ownership: Own the full lifecycle of services, ensuring high code quality, effective monitoring, and low operational overhead.
  • Bridge the Gap: Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to translate business needs into technical specifications; develop tooling for cloud economics.
  • Mentorship & Best Practices: Contribute to code reviews, share engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and drive a shift-left culture with efficiency checks in the development workflow.
  • Automate the manual: Build automation and AI/agentic tooling to detect waste, attribute cost, and remediate issues with minimal human intervention.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience producing high-quality production code and detailed technical design documents for distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to break down complex, multi-month projects into milestones and tasks.
  • Solid grasp of distributed systems best practices (monitoring, documentation, testing, fit and finish).
  • Experience in optimizing cloud resource utilization or developing large-scale distributed tools.
  • Ability to make well-reasoned trade-offs between system performance, development velocity, and technical debt.
