About the role

Staff Software Engineer at Databricks Bengaluru, leading the Multi Cloud Efficiency (MCE) chapter. Technical lead for efficiency projects across AWS/Azure/GCP, focusing on cost optimization, scalable cloud infrastructure, and autonomous remediation through AI-driven systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the Bengaluru MCE chapter and define the technical strategy for efficiency projects.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts with finance and cost teams to tackle large-scale engineering challenges for multi-cloud data processing without compromising performance or stability.
  • Architect at scale for cloud spend optimization, including reserved-instance automation, tag-based cost attribution, automated waste-cleanup policy engines, and cross-cloud governance.
  • Design scalable systems for regression detection and automated resource rightsizing; build frameworks to measure efficiency footprints and enforce automated release gates against regressions to efficiency targets (SLOs).
  • Improve stability and reliability of internal platform tools; act as technical authority for incident management in a globally scaled environment.
  • Mentor junior and senior engineers to raise engineering quality and culture across the organization.
  • Design automation layers for AI-driven detection, decisioning, and autonomous remediation to run cost governance continuously at scale.

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience building production-grade, distributed systems in Java, Scala, C++, or Go.
  • Proven track record of architecting solutions for large-scale infrastructure, cloud computing (AWS/Azure/GCP), and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).
  • Deep expertise in identifying and solving performance bottlenecks in high-throughput, distributed environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical requirements for ambiguous problems where the path forward is not obvious.
  • T-shaped engineering skills: depth in distributed systems and breadth across cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and software lifecycles.
