About the role

Applied Research Scientist role focused on developing cutting-edge computer vision and generative models to power Runway's creative tools, with an emphasis on bringing research into production and user interfaces for creative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop cutting-edge computer vision and generative models to power our creative tools
  • Collaborate with backend, design, and frontend engineering teams to bring research models to production and ensure harmony with user interfaces
  • Mentor and teach other researchers
  • Communicate and document research findings and progress
  • Contribute to human-in-the-loop systems for creativity

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering or research experience in machine learning, computer vision and/or graphics
  • Expertise with Python, C++, CUDA, TensorFlow and PyTorch; strong ability to write clean, maintainable research code
  • Deep interest in building human-in-the-loop systems for creativity
  • Passion for seeing research through from initial conception to eventual application
  • Experience mentoring and teaching other researchers
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
