About the role

Senior backend engineer role within Mercury’s product engineering group, focused on building lovable fintech experiences for startups with autonomous, product-minded collaboration and opportunities to shape Mercury’s future across Banking, Experiences, Expansion, or Risk product groups.

Responsibilities

  • Feel a strong sense of product ownership and actively seek responsibility – self-organize on small/medium projects and help shape Mercury’s future.
  • Work in an autonomous environment on a close-knit team, with a “startup within a startup” feel.
  • Partner closely with designers and product leaders to ship lovable experiences and transcend the status quo for banking and fintech software.
  • Join a team of experienced product engineers within one of Mercury’s product groups such as Banking, Experiences, Expansion, or Risk.

Qualifications

  • Has 3-7 years of backend development experience.
  • Knowledge of or excitement to learn Haskell, and proficiency in SQL.
  • Empathizes with users and can channel their perspective to build lovable products.
  • Has made architectural decisions in the past and can articulate tradeoffs and their impact.
  • Actively incorporates AI tools into their workflow to accelerate development, improve code quality, or solve hard problems.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with peers and cross-functional counterparts.
