About the role
Director of Strategic Finance & Investor Relations at Cloudflare, responsible for leading the quarterly earnings cycle, long-range financial modeling, and investor communications; acts as a key liaison to CFO/CEO and senior leadership, and spearheads AI-enabled, high-visibility IR efforts.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end quarterly earnings process: press release, supplemental financial information, prepared remarks (CEO and CFO scripts), Q&A prep, investor deck, and supporting validation work.
- Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to develop the company's guidance (including share count forecasting) and own the executive-facing materials that frame guidance decisions, sensitivity ranges, and the trade-offs in how we communicate them.
- Lead the Q&A preparation process — anticipated questions, suggested answers, peer transcript triangulation, key stats and proof points, and live-call backup material.
- Lead the post-earnings analyst callback program, including coordinating callbacks with ~30 sell-side analysts across CEO and CFO sessions.
- Drive earnings materials validation — cross-check ensuring figures/claims/disclosures tie out across materials and filings.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for sell-side analysts and institutional investors; build and maintain relationships.
- Articulate the investment narrative and Cloudflare’s long-term financial model in a credible way.
- Plan and execute investor events: conferences, one-on-ones, investor visits, Investor Day.
- Prepare executives for investor interactions with tailored materials, talking points, and Q&A prep.
- Develop and maintain IR collateral: investor presentation, fact sheets, IR website content, and board investor update materials.
- Co-lead Investor Day planning and execution; manage invites, content, logistics, and post-event follow-through.
- Lead strategic finance projects: benchmarking, long-range modeling, competitive analyses, ad-hoc analyses.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Communications, FP&A, and Executive team.
- Monitor analyst coverage, investor sentiment, and market trends; provide insights to CFO/CEO/Board.
- Build internal analytical infrastructure (models, dashboards, trackers) to scale the IR function.
- Drive AI-native tooling and automation within IR operations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience combining investor relations, equity research, investment banking, FP&A, corporate finance, or equity investing (ideally in-house at a high-growth public tech company).
- Deep technical fluency with public-company reporting, financial statements, capital markets, valuation methodologies, and SaaS/consumption-based revenue models.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft in executive voice and translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Advanced financial modeling skills: operating models, share-count and dilution forecasts, guidance sensitivity analyses, and consensus benchmarking.
- Ownership mindset with ability to drive end-to-end processes in a fast-paced environment; high integrity and accuracy in external disclosures.
- High-trust collaboration with CFO/CEO/Board/Legal/Accounting/FP&A and external stakeholders.
- AI-native curiosity and skill; experience using modern AI tooling to enhance impact.
- Sound judgment with confidential information, materiality, Reg FD, and disclosure standards.
- Sector background in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, or AI; existing relationships with top-tier sell-side analysts/investors a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
