About the role

Field Engineering Manager role leading a team of Solutions Architects for the Manufacturing segment, chartered to accelerate customer value from Databricks Data + AI platform through pre-sales leadership, strategy, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, grow, and manage a bar-raising team of Solutions Architects for Manufacturing.
  • Make customers extremely successful with Databricks and provide outsized value.
  • Maintain a robust hiring pipeline at all times.
  • Establish relationships across the business to enable customer and team success.
  • Partner with sales leadership to hit sales and consumption targets while ensuring customer success.
  • Keep the team ahead of the technical curve by maintaining advanced knowledge of the data+AI stack and delivering comprehensive solutions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building and leading technical pre-sales teams (hiring, onboarding, coaching, enabling).
  • 7+ years of experience in the Data + AI space with a technical product (data warehousing, big data, data science, machine learning, or AI).
  • Deep technical understanding of the impact of Data + AI in various industry segments.
  • Technical competence to earn trust of Engineering talent and leadership at Databricks.
  • Trusted advisor to technical executives guiding strategic data infrastructure decisions.
  • Experience leading pre-sales activities: qualification, proofs of concept, architecture discussions, product demonstrations.
  • Experience hiring and ramping pre-sales professionals, promoting them, addressing performance issues, and implementing improvement plans.
  • Ability to foster positive team culture and collaborate with Field Engineering, Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
  • Demonstrated architectural influence to guide complex solutions at scale.
