About the role

Architectural Designer II responsible for transforming empty Primer campuses into functional schools across multiple sites, handling site feasibility, permitting, project management, FF&E and product specification, and building standards for multi-location rollout.

Responsibilities

  • Site feasibility and pre-construction: conduct code analysis and zoning review, coordinate traffic and parking studies, run test fits and space programming, make go/no-go decisions for new sites, build a diligence playbook for faster future evaluations.
  • Permitting and project management: manage permitting across jurisdictions (building permits, fire life safety, ADA, zoning variances, change of use), oversee civil engineers and local architects, coordinate with code officials and inspectors, manage multiple projects at different stages without missing deadlines.
  • FF&E and product specification: research and specify furniture, equipment, and branded materials for each campus, build a vendor list and product catalog, identify value engineering opportunities to save costs while preserving student experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in architectural project management, interior design, or related field with ownership from design through construction
  • Experience building design standards or prototypes for multi-location rollout (a big plus)
  • Background in schools, retail, or hospitality where physical space matters to users
  • Deep knowledge of building codes, ADA, fire life safety, zoning, and permitting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Fluency in 3D Modeling Software, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe InDesign, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, or equivalent; comfort with project management tools (Asana)
  • Ability to produce standards and playbooks that others will implement
  • Capacity to run multiple projects and vendors simultaneously without losing track
