About the role

Role focused on owning and building Stepful's end-to-end student engagement system. You will design the logic, measurement, and guardrails for automated student communications, aiming to move students forward through enrollment, onboarding, readiness, activation, and success milestones. Hands-on with automation tools to create a coherent engagement engine that scales with the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end student comms surface from enrollment through payment, onboarding, pre-class readiness, activation, and success milestones as a single coherent system.
  • Design and implement the decisioning logic behind next-best-action, including triggers, segmentation, routing, and escalation.
  • Develop and manage the measurement system: metrics, experiments, holdouts, and goals to prove flows move students forward.
  • Establish guardrails to ensure automated/AI-assisted communication is clear, supportive, and human.
  • Map current lifecycle, reduce overlap and gaps, and ship improved flows with measurable lifts.
  • Build directly in automation/tools (e.g., Customer.io) to own outcomes, not just briefs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in lifecycle, growth, or engagement systems at scale (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience building in automation/CRM tools (e.g., Customer.io, Braze, Iterable, HubSpot, Klaviyo) or similar.
  • Understanding of AI as a workflow design tool, not just content generation.
  • Ability to design end-to-end workflows, triggers, context, logic, channels, escalation, and success metrics.
