About the role

Machine Learning Researcher to build deep learning models powering Jane Street's trading strategies, train models on a large GPU cluster, and contribute to research, development, and collaboration across ML domains.

Responsibilities

  • Train models for the next generation of deep learning-based trading strategies.
  • Build and maintain deep learning models supporting trading strategies.
  • Work with a large computing cluster with tens of thousands of high-end GPUs.
  • Diving into market data, tuning hyperparameters, debugging distributed training performance, and studying model behavior in production.
  • Shape the future of ML at Jane Street through research, implementation, and collaboration.
  • Hire new colleagues, attend conferences, and teach techniques to teammates.

Qualifications

  • Practical experience working on empirical ML problems
  • Ability to apply logical and mathematical thinking to problems
  • Intellectual curiosity and excitement about state-of-the-art research across many ML problem domains
  • Fluency with a versatile set of models and tricks
  • Hands-on coding skills in Python and your preferred ML framework
  • Eagerness to ask questions, admit mistakes, and learn new things

Benefits

  • Base salary is $300,000. Base salary is only one part of Jane Street total compensation, which includes an annual discretionary bonus.
