About the role

Machine Learning researcher to build deep learning models powering Jane Street's trading strategies, with collaborative, hands-on work across model development, training, and production, including hiring and knowledge transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Train models for the next generation of deep learning-based trading strategies
  • Build the fundamental understanding needed to tackle new markets and situations
  • Train models for production trading environments
  • Work with researchers, engineers and traders to train models, architect systems and run trading strategies
  • Tune hyperparameters and debug distributed training performance
  • Study how models trade in production
  • Hire new colleagues and teach techniques to teammates
  • Attend conferences and disseminate knowledge to the team

Qualifications

  • Practical experience working on empirical ML problems
  • Ability to apply logical and mathematical thinking to problems
  • Intellectual curiosity and excitement about state-of-the-art research across many ML problem domains
  • Fluency with a versatile set of models and tricks
  • Hands-on coding skills in Python and ML frameworks
  • Eagerness to ask questions, admit mistakes and learn new things
  • Fluency in English
