About the role

Machine Learning Researcher to join Jane Street's ML team in London. You will train deep learning models powering trading strategies, work with a large GPU compute cluster, and collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and traders to develop and productionize ML methods for trading.

Responsibilities

  • Train models for the next generation of deep learning–based trading strategies
  • Build and understand ML systems and pipelines to support trading
  • Work with market data, tune hyperparameters, and debug distributed training performance
  • Study how models trade in production and adapt accordingly
  • Hire new colleagues, attend conferences, and teach techniques to teammates
  • Apply knowledge across LLMs, image models, RL agents, recommendation systems or classical ML methods to shape ML at Jane Street

Qualifications

  • Practical experience working on empirical ML problems
  • Ability to apply logical and mathematical thinking to problems
  • Intellectual curiosity and excitement about state-of-the-art research across ML domains
  • Fluency with a versatile set of models and tricks
  • Hands-on coding skills in Python and ML framework
  • Eagerness to ask questions, admit mistakes and learn
  • Fluency in English
