About the role

We are looking for a Research Engineer with robust experience in machine learning and strong mathematical foundations to join our growing ML team and to help drive the direction of our ML platform.

Responsibilities

  • Experience building and maintaining training and inference infrastructure, with an understanding of what it takes to move from concept to production
  • Understand the mechanics behind various modeling techniques and break down the mathematics behind them to apply the right tool for the problem at hand
  • Enhance research workflows to tighten feedback cycles
  • Bridge between research and engineering to push forward the frontier of model capabilities at all points of the stack
  • Enable scaling in the technology stack and/or build workflow APIs that support a wide range of use cases

Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining training and inference infrastructure
  • Strong mathematical background; interest in optimization theory, regularization techniques, linear algebra
  • Passion for keeping up with state of the art in ML
  • Ability to create and maintain an organized research codebase with robust, reproducible results
  • Expertise wrangling an ML framework (PyTorch preferred; knowledge of Jax, TensorFlow or others welcome)
  • Inventive mindset and willingness to question whether current approaches and tools are optimal

Benefits

  • Base salary is $300,000
  • Base salary is part of total compensation including an annual discretionary bonus
