About the role

Responsibilities

  • Work on a project mentored closely by full-time employees, designed to challenge and develop Linux systems knowledge and software engineering skills
  • Investigate resilience of file system implementations at scale
  • Automate collection of diagnostic information from early boot failures
  • Design a scalable system for collecting detailed TCP diagnostic data
  • Extend infrastructure provisioning and management systems to support new compute capacity
  • Engage in real-time operational work alongside experienced engineers to resolve issues in production infrastructure
  • Perform root-cause analyses to learn from incidents

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about operating system fundamentals and computer architecture
  • Experienced with systems programming concepts (sockets, virtual memory, process life cycle)
  • Able to understand network protocols at a basic level
  • Comfortable using the Linux command line
  • Fluent with introspection and troubleshooting Linux system health, processes, and logs
  • Problem-solving approach through coding and robust software engineering
  • Intellectually curious, collaborative, eager to learn, humble, and good communicator
  • Strong communication skills

Benefits
