About the role

We are looking for a Research Engineer with robust experience in machine learning and strong mathematical foundations to join our growing ML team and to help drive the direction of our ML platform.

Responsibilities

  • Experience building and maintaining training and inference infrastructure, with an understanding of what it takes to move from concept to production
  • Understanding mechanics behind various modelling techniques and mathematics, and breaking down these concepts for practical use
  • Help push forward the frontier of model capabilities at all points of the stack, potentially enabling scale in the technology stack
  • Build workflow APIs that support a wide range of use cases
  • Create and maintain an organised research codebase that produces robust, reproducible results while maintaining ease of use
  • Engage with ML frameworks (primarily PyTorch, with familiarity or openness to Jax, TensorFlow or others)
  • Questioning and evaluating whether current approaches are appropriate and tools are suitable
  • Fluency in English

Qualifications

  • A strong mathematical background; interests in optimisation theory, regularisation techniques, linear algebra and related areas
  • Experience building and maintaining training and inference infrastructure
  • Curiosity about state-of-the-art ML methods and willingness to experiment with new hardware or software
  • Ability to create and maintain an organised, robust, reproducible research codebase with ease of use
  • Expertise wrangling an ML framework (preferably PyTorch; familiarity with Jax, TensorFlow or others welcome)
  • Inventive mindset with willingness to ask hard questions about methodologies and tooling
  • Fluency in English required
