About the role

Proactive problem-solver embedded in Jane Street's Operations team, focused on running day-to-day processes, understanding products, and continuously improving workflows through process redesign and potential AI-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Embedded within one of our Operations teams to learn day-to-day work and run processes
  • Build context for how things get done and why
  • Over time shift focus toward making the work better (e.g., redesigning reconciliations, removing handoffs, imagining tools and systems improvements, applying AI where helpful)
  • Develop and implement changes that have the biggest impact and drive adoption
  • Collaborate with other Operations teams and broaden influence as you gain context and a track record
  • Evolve role over time and embrace changing responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, engineering, analytics, consulting, or a related field
  • Ability to notice inefficiencies and gaps and take initiative to improve them
  • Pragmatic problem-solving approach and ability to choose appropriate solutions (spreadsheets, scripts, AI)
  • Comfort with explaining complex ideas clearly to others
  • Self-starter with ability to set direction in ambiguous situations
  • Humility about knowledge limits and willingness to ask questions
  • Technical skills are a plus but not required, emphasis on thinking over building

Benefits

  • Base salary $115,000 - $135,000 per year
  • Annual discretionary bonus as part of total compensation
