About the role

We're building a new Formal Methods team at Jane Street focused on applying formal methods to feedback for agents and validating agent-generated code, leveraging existing tools and pursuing novel approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a new Formal Methods team and develop tools and approaches for formal methods integration within Jane Street's infrastructure.
  • Collaborate in a small, close-knit team environment with engineers and researchers to turn research ideas into practical tools that are used across the firm and beyond.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of formal methods techniques (interactive proof assistants, automated theorem provers, static analysis, refinement types, program logics, property-based testing, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Deep experience with formal methods (interactive proof assistants, automated theorem provers, static analysis, refinement types, program logics, property-based testing, and related areas).
  • Top-notch software engineering skills with ability to turn research ideas into practical tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in small, collaborative teams.

Benefits

  • Base salary between $250,000 and $300,000. Base salary is part of total compensation including an annual discretionary bonus.
