About the role

Production Engineers are software developers who split time between OCaml software development and a support rotation, solving live issues in Jane Street’s critical systems while building and improving monitoring and tooling for the firm’s trading operations.

Responsibilities

  • Split time between OCaml software development project work and a support rotation resolving live issues in critical systems
  • Collaborate with application developers and various departments to build and run high-quality software systems
  • Own architecture and design of monitoring and support tools for the firm’s trading systems
  • Design and develop tools used by the team to improve reliability and performance
  • Contribute to a culture of learning and cross-team collaboration during production incidents and real-time issues
  • Communicate clearly and calmly during production incidents and collaborate with traders and engineers to enable good trades

Qualifications

  • Strong programming ability with a love for technology; able to write and read code well
  • Intellectually curious, motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn
  • Excellent communication skills, able to stay clear and calm during production incidents
  • Fluency in English required
