About the role

Software Engineers with a background in programming languages to join one of Jane Street's PL-focused teams. Areas include language design and type systems, compilers and optimization, incremental and parallel computation, HPC tooling, DSLs, and developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work across language design, type systems, compilers, runtimes, or DSL implementation as part of PL-focused teams.
  • Contribute to open-source language implementations (e.g., OCaml, Python) or in-house/custom languages and DSLs.
  • Collaborate in small, close-knit teams with strong interpersonal communication.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience with—and love for—programming languages (design, type systems, compilers, runtimes, or DSLs).
  • Top-notch programming skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in small teams.
