About the role

Production Engineers are software developers who split time between OCaml software development and a production support rotation, working to solve live issues in Jane Street’s critical systems and owning the architecture and design of monitoring and support tools for the firm’s trading operations.

Responsibilities

  • Split time between OCaml software development project work and a support rotation to actively resolve live issues in Jane Street’s critical systems
  • Collaborate with various software teams and application developers to create and run robust software systems
  • Design and develop tools used to monitor and support the firm’s trading operations
  • Own the architecture and design of systems that monitor and support trading activities
  • Solve real-time issues and contribute to firm-wide improvements

Qualifications

  • Strong programming ability and love for technology; able to write and read code well
  • Intellectually curious, motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn
  • Excellent communication skills; calm and clear during production incidents
  • Background in functional programming, finance, or a specific field is not required; focus is on problem solving and learning ability
