Unified Communications Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to grow, monitor, and manage Jane Street's global voice and video infrastructure within the IT group, delivering robust solutions in a fast-paced environment while minimizing downtime for collaboration services.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor alarms and support for voice and video systems; multitask across projects; act as escalation point for users and other technology groups.
  • Interface with IT Operations, Cybersecurity, Networking to provide capacity planning, develop standards and best practices, and improve documentation across the global UC infrastructure.
  • Deploy UC products and services; execute software and hardware configuration changes globally with minimal downtime.
  • Improve tooling and monitoring related to collaboration and telephony.
  • Support and troubleshoot UC integrations and APIs; collect and interpret log files; collaborate with support partners to resolve issues while maintaining system stability; manage expectations with colleagues and users.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience configuring and supporting Cisco UC and Collaboration Product Suite in a multi-cluster environment (Cisco Unified Communications Manager v14+, Cisco Meeting Server, Cisco Expressway)
  • Excellent knowledge of SIP including implementing Session Border Controllers and PSTN SIP trunking
  • Experienced with upgrading and maintaining Cisco UC products (phones, softphones, video endpoints)
  • Knowledge of UC compliance products and modern voice recording and messaging archiving platforms (e.g., Verint, NiCE, Calabrio; Movius, LeapXpert, Smarsh)
  • Knowledge of Cisco APIs related to UC products; experience creating API automations (Python, PowerShell)
  • Experience integrating cloud-based conferencing tech (Webex, Zoom, Teams) with on-premise infrastructure
  • Comfortable troubleshooting custom API-based UC integrations
  • Ability to collect/interprete logs and work with support partners to solve problems while maintaining stability
  • Familiar with virtualization of Cisco UC applications on enterprise servers (HPE, Dell, Cisco)
  • Strong understanding of current security standards and creative troubleshooting skills

Benefits

  • Base salary $200,000 - $250,000 per year; includes annual discretionary bonus as part of total compensation
