About the role

Windows Engineering internship focused on designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining automation tools and infrastructure within Jane Street's IT department. Interns work alongside full-time engineers, gain exposure to OCaml, F#, and PowerShell, and contribute to projects drawn from the team's core stack.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining tools and applications related to Windows automation and configuration management
  • Improving CI/CD systems, cross-platform frameworks, and software development environments
  • Improving the efficiency and scalability of tools, services, and monitoring solutions
  • Implementing editor and workflow improvements to streamline coding and deployment workflows across IT

Qualifications

  • Strong programming ability with high potential and eagerness to learn
  • Experience with .NET languages (C# or F#)
  • Knowledge of operating system fundamentals and computer architecture
  • Ability to understand network protocols at a basic level
  • Familiarity with AI/LLMs and prompt engineering
  • Intellectual curiosity, collaborative mindset, and willingness to learn
  • Humility and willingness to ask questions and admit mistakes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfort with both the command line and GUI environments
