About the role

internship position in Cybersecurity at Jane Street in New York. Mentored by full-time employees, working on real-world security projects, investigations, incident response, and development of tools and automation to enhance workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Being on the front lines of guarding the firm from cyber threats through investigations and incident response
  • building tools and automation to streamline, automate, and enhance workflows, and grow our capabilities
  • investigating alerts, digging through activity chains, and hunting and responding to evil
  • learning good development practices and solving real problems with code to detect and respond better, faster, and at scale
  • acting as an ambassador of best practices to the rest of the firm
  • educating the firm about risk and best practices with focus on security, trade-offs, and sustainability

Qualifications

  • Currently majoring or planning to major in computer science or a similar field
  • Interested in cybersecurity and technology in personal life or activities (CTFs, home labbing, personal projects)
  • Strong programmer with high potential and aptitude for learning
  • Familiar with threat modeling and able to communicate trade-offs in security, risk, and usability
  • Able to explain cybersecurity decisions and adapt under pressure
  • Humble and collaborative with a curious problem-solving mindset
  • Perseverance and grit in investigating and learning beyond surface-level understanding

Benefits
