About the role

Internship role in quantitative research at Jane Street, Hong Kong. Students or recent graduates work with full-time researchers on market signal identification, data analysis, model building, and trading strategies, with additional coursework and exposure to the end-to-end process of producing a trading signal.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with full-time Quantitative Researchers on projects drawn from their own work
  • Learn how to identify market signals, analyze large datasets, build and test models, and create new trading strategies
  • Learn about experiment design, dataset generation, time series analysis, feature engineering, and model building for financial datasets
  • Attend classes on fundamentals of markets and trading, lunch seminars, and activities related to bringing a new trading strategy from exploration to productionization

Qualifications

  • - Experience with data science or machine learning (preferred)
  • - Logical and mathematical thinking applied to problems
  • - Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to ask questions and learn
  • - Strong programming ability in Python
  • - Open-minded thinker and precise communicator who collaborates across backgrounds
  • - Fluent in English
  • - Most interns are current undergraduate or graduate students; graduates considering a new career in finance are welcome
  • - Research experience is a plus
