About the role

AI Quote and Order Automation startup Mercura is hiring a Senior AI/LLM Engineer to design and build agentic AI systems in production, focusing on retrieval, orchestration, tool usage, and product integration for the real-world quote automation domain. Role is hands-on, in-person in Munich, with founder-level ownership and high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Agentic Systems: Design and build LLM-powered agentic systems end-to-end, from experimentation to production deployment
  • Retrieval & Context: Build retrieval and context pipelines (RAG, hybrid search, structured retrieval) for reliable reasoning over large datasets
  • AI Evals: Develop evaluation and monitoring systems to measure and improve AI performance in production
  • Data Pipelines: Build scalable pipelines to process and structure large volumes of unstructured documents and data
  • Feedback Loops: Implement automated feedback pipelines enabling learning from usage data and human feedback
  • AI Infra: Own architecture and reliability of AI systems in production (speed, scalability, robustness)
  • Product Integration: Collaborate with engineers to deeply integrate AI capabilities into the product experience

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of architecting and building AI/LLM-powered systems or agents in production (model serving, orchestration, monitoring, scaling)
  • Experience processing and structuring large volumes of unstructured data
  • Experience with evaluation and feedback loops for AI systems
  • Experience with Python
  • Full-stack development experience (React / TypeScript / FastAPI) is a plus
