About the role

Founding Technical Recruiter to build and own Terminal's technical hiring function from the ground up, focusing on data platform engineering and senior technical talent for a Toronto-based startup.

Responsibilities

  • Run full-cycle recruiting across engineering, data, and other technical roles with data platform engineering as the priority.
  • Own sourcing, screening, scheduling, references, offer, and close.
  • Build and maintain a live map of the Toronto engineers we want.
  • Run outbound personally and craft candidate messaging that reflects Terminal's bar.
  • Develop interview loops, scorecards, and debrief practices to ensure consistent evaluation by five interviewers.
  • Close senior and staff engineers, including compensation discussions with early-stage equity.
  • Review new hires after 90 days, six months, and twelve months against the set bar.
  • Build and manage the hiring operating system and funnel instrumentation.
  • Partner with CEO and leadership on headcount sequencing, role design, and the use of AI/tooling to support the team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years recruiting in-house at an early-stage startup (with at least two years full-cycle recruiting)
  • Closed senior and staff engineers in competitive markets with equity discussions
  • Ability to source technically and discuss systems built by engineers
  • Strong pipeline management and data-driven hiring
  • Experience building recruiting processes and operating systems
  • Comfort working without a dedicated coordination team and in a changing environment
  • Excellent writing for initial candidate outreach
  • Hands-on with AI-assisted sourcing, screening, and scheduling

Companies building next generation insurance products, financial services and fleet software for trucking use our Universal API to access GPS data, speeding data and vehicle stats. Raghav (CEO) and Connor (CTO) led product and engineering at a series b-funded neobank where they spent 2.5 years integrating middleware APIs like Plaid & Stripe. Before that, Connor spent 3 years building software for his family-owned logistics company which was acquired by a private equity firm. Raghav’s family is in fleet operations and owns an HVAC company in San Francisco where they operate a fleet of 13 commercial vehicles.
