About the role

Deployment Strategist serves as the product manager for field engagements, bridging customer business problems with Databricks technical solutions from discovery through production launch and adoption. This role embeds with strategic customers and leads end-to-end delivery of high-value AI/data initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • - Partner with Sales to perform deep discovery, map the customer's organization, quantify business value, and define pilots with MVPs, success criteria, and timelines.
  • - Author the Product Requirements Document (PRD), prioritize engineering backlog, manage scope, and act as primary hands-on QA tester.
  • - Lead technical discovery and design reviews; shape solution architecture with FDEs; assess data flows, integrations, platform constraints, and operational environment; pressure-test architecture choices; identify risks early.
  • - Own Day 0 launch, manage the war room, drive adoption, gather user feedback, iterate, and ensure production readiness across data quality, testing, security, performance, and operations.
  • - Scope ongoing maintenance, create customer documentation/training, and identify next high-value engagements; codify reusable solution patterns and feed insights back to Product and Engineering.

Qualifications

  • - Executive presence and communication skills to engage C-suite and stakeholders.
  • - Product judgment: ability to define what to build, write PRDs, prioritize work, manage scope, and lead complex agile projects.
  • - Technical fluency and architecture judgment across modern data/AI architectures, cloud platforms, data pipelines/models, APIs, security/governance, ML, and GenAI patterns.
  • - Hands-on technical ability in at least one language (Python, Java, or SQL) and capability to explore data, work in notebooks, review code/pipelines, and build/adapt prototypes.
  • - 7+ years of experience delivering complex, customer-facing data/analytics/AI/software engagements or equivalent founder/technical-builder background; experience in production deployments; comfortable onsite with customers (often 25-50%).
