About the role

Resident Chef leading culinary teams and in-store culinary program at Sur La Table, Cincinnati, responsible for cooking classes, customer experience, and driving sales and brand standards.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing team to meet culinary and retail business needs.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire associates to exceed performance expectations and uphold a positive team culture.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and create development plans.
  • Represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and loyalty.
  • Ensure outstanding cooking class experiences by following recipes and game plans and ensuring quality.
  • Collaborate with store leadership to increase foot traffic and engagement through classes and private events.
  • Stay current on products and training resources to maintain expertise.
  • Lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture in kitchen and sales floor.
  • Address and manage all culinary program customer feedback to maintain satisfaction.
  • Drive sales growth by developing and implementing culinary and retail strategies.
  • Analyze KPIs daily to optimize store performance and meet or exceed goals.
  • Maintain daily store operations with food safety, health codes, and sanitation compliance.
  • Manage inventory, reduce shrink, and control expenses; may handle liquor/wine/beer per regulations.
  • Ensure store safety and cleanliness; maintain employee records and compliance with wage/hour laws.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a culinary instructor.
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience.
  • Valid Food Manager Certification.
  • Proven sales leadership and ability to motivate teams while meeting operational goals.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Passion for community engagement and exceptional customer experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems (preferred).
