Quantum Engineer (Neutral Atom)
About the role
Role focused on developing and deploying the neutral atom quantum hardware and calibration software stack to enable scalable quantum computation for scientific discovery.
Responsibilities
- Atom loading and array assembly: Optimize routines from first trapping to a defect-free array, improve loading, survival, and uniformity across sites, and reduce time to a filled array.
- Qubit control and characterization: Develop imaging and readout calibration to maintain fidelity as the system drifts; push single-qubit and Rydberg two-qubit gates to required fidelity; manage a state preparation and measurement error budget.
- Calibration automation: Encode expert tuning into software for automatic platform operation; close the loop with ML and software teams; automate recovery and keep cooling, trapping, Rydberg, and Raman lasers locked without human in the loop.
- System performance and control stack: Diagnose drift, atom loss, and fidelity degradation; define monitoring and recovery for unattended operation; control array geometry and per-site trap depth from software; develop/modify control software for hardware components; own sequencing timeline from trapping to readout.
- Collaboration and system integration: Work with physicists, ML engineers, and backend developers to integrate hardware, software, and data pipelines into a unified quantum control stack; provide usability, stability, and performance feedback.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in relevant field (physics/engineering)
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with quantum hardware or related calibration/control systems is a plus
- High intelligence, energy, integrity, and passion for hardware and problem solving
Skills
Benefits
- Free healthcare, dental, and vision
- Opportunities to work on critical, frontier technical problems

About Conductor Quantum
Quantum computers on silicon chips using AI.
Quantum computers will allow humanity to understand the world at its most fundamental level, enabling the acceleration of drug discovery and the development of new materials. Currently, quantum engineers spend days, sometimes weeks, manually getting their silicon chips to operational conditions to realize two qubits. A qubit is the information-carrying unit of a quantum computer, analogous to a bit in a classical computer. We need billions of qubits to make a useful quantum computer. Therefore, automation software will be vital to realizing this goal. Conductor Quantum will develop AI software to remove the human from the loop, enable the scaling of silicon quantum technology and build a silicon-based quantum computer.
