About the role

First dedicated GTM engineering hire at Plane responsible for owning outbound end to end, building trigger-based plays from Plane signals, and collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to scale outbound efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Own outbound end to end and carry the number: qualified meetings and pipeline from cold, repeatably, at a known cost per meeting.
  • Turn Plane's own signals into trigger-based plays (e.g., GitHub activity, Docker pulls, self-hosted installs, community threads, funding, hiring).
  • Segment by deployment motion as well as by firmographics (cloud, self-hosted commercial, air-gapped buyers).
  • Own sender reputation across domains: warmup, rotation, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, blocklist monitoring, isolation of cold infra.
  • Build agents and systems that do account research at high volume, integrating LLM providers into the stack and creating tooling where required.
  • Collaborate daily with Sales on reply quality and handoff, with Marketing on message/offer, and with telemetry-owning engineers.
  • Engage in real-time maintenance: prune dead records, chase bounce rate changes, rebuild lists after provider degradation, and iterate on sequences based on data.

Qualifications

  • You have run cold outbound that produced pipeline.
  • You can name the segment, the volume, the reply rate, and what you changed when the reply rate dropped.
  • You have built in Clay or an equivalent orchestration platform with enrichment waterfalls, provider fallbacks, and cost per enriched record.
  • You treat deliverability as infrastructure (Domains, warmup, rotation, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and manage the impact within the first hour after spam placement moves.
  • You have shipped with LLM providers, wired Anthropic or OpenAI models into a working system, and handled incorrect outputs.
  • You can connect systems yourself (SQL, APIs, webhooks) and integrate data layer with CRM and a sequencer without waiting on an engineer.
  • You write for technical buyers and can explain differences in messaging to platform engineering leads vs. VP of operations.
