About the role

Overlap builds AI agents that turn long-form video into high-performing short-form content for media companies. The Product Engineer will work across the product and engineering stack to build core features, translate customer problems into products, and own end-to-end delivery with autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship core product features across our Next.js frontend and Python backend
  • Turn customer problems into products
  • Build AI-native product experiences and agentic workflows
  • Own projects end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, and iteration
  • Improve the performance and reliability of our infrastructure
  • Work across our Google Cloud stack
  • Contribute to product and interface design
  • Move quickly, talk to users, and ship constantly

Qualifications

  • Have built and deployed real web products
  • Are an excellent programmer and problem solver
  • Proficient in using frontier coding agents
  • Move quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Are comfortable owning ambiguous problems with little hand-holding
  • Have strong product instincts and care about the details users notice
  • Thrive in a high-intensity startup environment
  • Experience building products 0→1 (especially valuable)
  • Exceptional proficiency with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows
  • Experience with Next.js, React, Python, or FastAPI
  • Experience with GCP, Firebase, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure
  • Experience building with LLMs, multimodal AI, video, or ML systems
  • Strong design instincts or experience with Figma
  • Previous startup or high-ownership engineering experience
