About the role

Store Floor Lead in Palo Alto, CA, supporting the GM/Store Manager as Manager on Duty to drive sales, customer experience, and daily store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sales floor and oversee daily store operations as Manager on Duty (MOD).
  • Provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback to elevate performance and team engagement. Communicate performance issues to the GM/SM.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new associates.
  • Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and loyalty.
  • Stay current on products through training and independent learning; actively seek resources.
  • Lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture and address customer concerns to maintain satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Support achievement of store sales goals through effective customer engagement and team motivation.
  • Maximize selling opportunities by identifying customer needs and offering relevant solutions.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals and contribute to store revenue (measured by KPIs like individual sales volume, AOV, and conversion).
  • Direct employees to maintain stock levels and merchandising per visual standards.
  • Complete inventory transactions (receiving, MOS, RARs).
  • Adhere to wage-and-hour laws and accurately record time.
  • Communicate and enforce SLT policies and SOPs across associates.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment.
  • 1 year of retail management experience, preferably in a specialty or culinary retail environment.
  • Strong leadership to inspire and retain a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Passion for community engagement and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management systems preferred.
