About the role

Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) within Elastic Security, focusing on identity-based threats across on-premises, cloud, and AI/non-human identities, and evangelizing Elastic's approach to a global security practitioner community.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a credible ITDR function within Elastic Security, evolving the Entity Analytics and Entity Store foundation from behavioral analytics into an identity-defense outcome.
  • Manage the plan for non-human and AI agent identities in Elastic Security, modeling service accounts, workloads, secrets, and self-directed agents as important identities with lifecycle and behavior standards.
  • Work with threat research and detection engineering on identity-specific threats (credential access, privilege escalation, identity-based lateral movement, abuse of identity providers and tokens) and align with real-world adversary tactics.
  • Drive the response and containment strategy (the 'R' in ITDR) by turning detections into action with identity-system integrations and automated responses, ensuring human oversight for important actions.
  • Collaborate with enterprise customers (security operations, sales, solution architects) to understand requirements and prioritize product needs.
  • Partner with design to develop investigation and response experiences emphasizing identity in analyst workflows, integrating identity signals with endpoint, cloud, and network data in SIEM and XDR workflows.
  • Gain deep knowledge of the identity-security market to develop a unique strategy and engage with analysts.
  • Be the product expert and evangelize Elastic's identity capabilities through content such as blog posts, talks, and community interaction.

Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience: 10+ years in product management or solution delivery for security products (SIEM, XDR, EDR, identity security, or detection and response). Proven track record of leading data-intensive products from inception through launch and growth.
  • Identity Security Depth: Knowledge of identity-based attack techniques and identity fabric (Active Directory, cloud identity providers, SSO, OAuth, privileged access); experience with ITDR and UEBA; understanding of on-premises and cloud identity threats.
  • Non-human Identities Fluency: Familiarity with service accounts, workloads, secrets, and AI agents; understanding why traditional human-identity rules don’t apply to continuous, autonomous identities.
  • AI and ML Fluency: Deep understanding of AI/ML landscape (behavioral analytics, anomaly detection, LLMs, agentic systems); ability to work with data scientists and engineers; view AI agents as both secure subjects and consumers of identity context.
  • Bias to Action: Ability to move quickly, learn from experiments, and leverage AI tools to accelerate decision-making.
  • Management and Influence: Proven ability to lead across a matrixed organization, align stakeholders, and drive execution in a remote-first environment at principal level.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong written and spoken communication; ability to distill complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Customer Obsession: Focus on solving real-world customer problems, advocating for security analysts and detection engineers, and building defender-focused products.
