About the role

Manufacturing / NPI Engineer responsible for owning and optimizing the engineering side of new-program introduction from RFQ to production, serving as the process spine between customers, suppliers, and Jiga to enable production-ready parts at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Be the technical owner on every program that has a path to production — from initial RFQ review through prototype, qualification builds, and ramp to volume.
  • Run structured DFM reviews on incoming production candidates to surface manufacturability issues early.
  • Define the process to move a part from prototype tooling to production tooling and manage tooling costs across volume forecasts.
  • Partner with the customer’s engineering team on design questions, alternative materials, and process trade-offs; translate CAD to supplier capabilities.
  • Build and own First Article Inspection (FAI) process, including triggers, contents, review, and sign-off.
  • Define qualification protocols for prototype-to-production parts: sample sizes, inspection cadence, and reduced-inspection schedules on repeat orders.
  • Author control plans and inspection plans; ensure supplier execution against them.
  • Own the engineering side of customer-driven supplier audits; prepare, attend, and close findings.
  • Enforce configuration and revision control across drawings, ECN/ECO flows, and production shipments to ensure part parity.
  • Run programs end to end as technical project manager; manage timelines, gate reviews, and stakeholder updates.
  • Be the technical link to suppliers; drive up-front alignment on process, tolerances, and qualification; transfer knowledge both ways.
  • Drive platform improvements for revisions, FAI status, control plans, and qualification data; surface recurring engineering problems and build playbooks and templates.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering, NPI, or production engineering at a contract manufacturer, OEM, or hardware company that moved products from prototype to production.
  • Experience running a real NPI program from DFM through PPAP/FAI/qualification to ramp and volume.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration control and revision management on customer-facing parts; ECN/ECO processes.
  • Fluency with FAI, control plans, inspection plans, and quality protocols (AS9102 / PPAP / ISIR / equivalents).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and CAD (PDF, STEP, SolidWorks) and work with GD&T.
  • Exposure to multiple manufacturing processes (CNC, sheet metal, injection molding, castings, additive) and ability to assess quote realism.
  • Ability to manage technical projects: timelines, gate reviews, RAID logs, stakeholder management; PMP not required but helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; concise, action-oriented, and capable of engineering memos or root-cause reports.
