About the role

Lead role owning Soraban's Connect product end-to-end, combining architecture, reliability, operations, and roadmap for an AI-driven tax data integration system that writes extracted tax data into major tax software.

Responsibilities

  • Own reliability, SLA, uptime, latency, and on-call model for Connect.
  • Define and evolve the architecture across Python/FastAPI service on ECS, Rails/Postgres monolith, Windows EC2 workers, and agent stack.
  • Own data-entry accuracy through QA programs and automated regression testing.
  • Lead operations and automation to reduce manual intervention.
  • Own onboarding of new firms, including credentials, MFA, hosting-provider reviews, agent installs, and test exports.
  • Drive the roadmap with new tax software integrations, form coverage, and data matching features.
  • Improve communication and create documentation, status definitions, and escalation paths for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years building and running production software, with prior leadership of a team, platform, or product area.
  • Hands-on Python development and ability to review PRs and understand Postgres queries.
  • Strong infrastructure depth on AWS (EC2, autoscaling, AMI/launch templates, ECS/Fargate, Terraform, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch).
  • Proven experience with reliability engineering: alerting, on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems, and reducing alert noise.
  • Judgment for automation vs. headcount in process optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to articulate complex systems to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-directed with ability to own a domain end-to-end.
