About the role

Retail Lead role at Sur La Table: supports GM/SM, serves as Manager on Duty, and drives in-store sales and guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sales floor and oversee daily store operations as Manager on Duty (MOD).
  • Provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback; communicate performance issues to General Manager/Store Manager.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new associates.
  • Represent the brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences for customers.
  • Stay current on products and training resources; continuously seek additional resources.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience with a Guest Obsessed culture.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Support achievement of store sales goals through customer engagement and team motivation.
  • Identify customer needs and offer relevant solutions to maximize selling opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals; monitor KPIs like sales volume, average transaction value, and conversion rates.
  • Direct employees to maintain appropriate merchandise stock levels and proper merchandising per visual standards.
  • Complete inventory transactions (receiving, MOS, RARs).
  • Adhere to wage and hour laws; record time worked per policy.
  • Communicate and enforce SOPs and store policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment.
  • 1 year of retail management experience, preferably in a specialty or culinary retail environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire, develop, and retain a high performing team.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Passion for community engagement and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management systems preferred.
