About the role

Lead proactive regulatory intelligence and compliance coordination for global packaging requirements across the e.l.f. Beauty portfolio, translating complex regulations into actionable guidelines and integrating compliance into packaging development, sourcing, and commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Intelligence: Serve as a subject matter expert on global packaging regulatory requirements and emerging risks; monitor, interpret, and assess evolving regulations (EPR, PPWR, recycled content, recyclability, packaging reduction, labeling, materials restrictions, packaging-related claims); engage with PROs, industry associations, regulatory experts, testing laboratories, suppliers, and external partners to stay informed.
  • Compliance Requirements: Translate packaging regulations into clear, actionable compliance requirements; lead interpretation of deadlines, evidence, and obligations; establish and maintain packaging materials compliance requirements including restricted substances and materials safety; support cross-functional clarity through summaries and training.
  • Process Integration & Implementation: Develop and maintain packaging compliance policies, procedures, guidance, tools, and training; embed compliance into packaging development, sourcing, and commercialization processes; develop regulatory roadmaps and trackers; assess portfolio exposure to regulations; advise on data and documentation to support regulatory compliance, market access, claims substantiation, and audits.

Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of experience in packaging compliance, regulatory affairs, packaging engineering, sustainability, or related fields (ideally within beauty, skincare, personal care, or CPG)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Sustainability, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of global packaging regulations and emerging requirements (EPR, PPWR, recycled content, recyclability, labeling, materials restrictions)
  • Experience monitoring regulatory developments and translating into practical actions
  • Experience developing and implementing packaging compliance programs, policies, procedures, and controls
  • Working knowledge of packaging materials, restricted substances, materials safety, supplier compliance, and risk-based testing
  • Strong project management skills to coordinate complex regulatory initiatives across functions and markets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to simplify regulatory topics for senior leadership
  • Collaborative and influential partner across Packaging, Sustainability, Regulatory, Legal, Sourcing, Finance, and other functions
  • Strategic perspective with attention to detail for regulatory compliance
